Denmark is located in Northern Europe and comprises the Jutland Peninsula and over 400 islands, with Zealand being the largest. Denmark shares a land border with only one country, Germany. Its northern boundary is with the Baltic Sea, and the eastern and western borders are bordered by the Øresund Strait and the North Sea. The country covers an area of approximately 43,094 square kilometres, which is characterised by flat terrain, coastal areas, and numerous lakes. Denmark has a population of around 5.8 million people. The official language is Danish. The local currency in Denmark is the Danish Krone (DKK).
